We're excited to announce that we are working behind the scenes on Season Two of the How To Grad School Podcast!
Last spring, Becca and I started our first season of the podcast and released 6 episodes. Our episodes centered around answering a question from a grad student and sharing research and lived experience about learning in grad school.
We will aim to release 4-6 episodes this next season and we're looking for grad students to submit questions we can answer on our podcast! Here are three reasons why you should submit a question to be answered.
Reason 1: The Benefits of Reaching Out For Help
Last season, we answered 6 questions from grad students. Before selecting a question, I would be in touch with students via email to let them know we would be answering their question. After the episode was released, I would follow up again and the majority of students found it to be a really beneficial experience to reach out and get their question answered.
We had students comment that we came up with ideas they had not previously considered, and appreciated that we were able to use our expertise in educational psychology and experience as recent grad students to understand what they were going through.
We know that grad students often face barriers in asking for help and we'd love for you to submit your question so you can get help with a grad school-related question.
Reason 2: Our Answers Focus on Practical and Affordable Solutions
Having experience as grad students mean that we are able to understand the many limitations and barriers grad students face -- in time, money, and energy. That is why we aim for our responses to the questions to consider a wide variety of contextual factors affecting grad students today.
For example, rising costs are impacting grad students more than ever before and so our solutions don't focus on expensive or impractical solutions. Rather we try to provide strategies that are free or easy-to-implement instead. And, our strategies are often based on educational psychology research and practice so it isn't just something we thought up or invented.
Reason 3: If Your Question is Chosen, You'll Get A Bonus!
If we choose to read your question on an episode of our podcast, we'll throw in a bonus to thank you for letting us read your question. Submit a question here to learn more about what you will get as a bonus.
We hope describing these three reasons will help you submit a question to be answered!
